Did You Know Saif Ali Khan Was Asked To Leave His Then Former GF Amrita Singh For His Debut Film? Actor Said, ‘Meri Struggle Bhi Thi Lekin Alag Thi'
Saif Ali Khan is an actor par excellence with many critically acclaimed movies to his credit. Just like other actors, he too had his fair share of struggles during the initial phase of his career. But Saif’s struggles were quite different than others, said the actor himself in an old interview. The actor once revealed how he was asked by a director to choose between doing a film or leaving his then-girlfriend Amrita Singh. Surprised right?

As reported by Hindustan Times, the Omkara actor spoke about getting replaced by Kamal Sadanah in his debut film ‘Bekhudi’ during his appearance on the Doordarshan show Subah Savere. When asked about whether he had to struggle any less than others, Saif was quoted as saying, “Many people talk about the struggle. What does struggle even mean? Struggle ka matlab kya hota hai? Auto rickshaw mein baitho aur 10 chakkar kaato. Kisi ke office mein 3 ghante ke liye baitho. Ise struggle kehte hain. Meri struggle bhi thi lekin alag thi. Mujhe apni pehle film se nikaal diya gaya kyuki mere director saab ne bola ki ‘you leave your girlfriend or you do the film’. It was a moral choice.”

The actor went on to reveal that no one wanted to work with him. Saif even claimed that Rahul was convinced that he didn’t want to work and didn’t have any interest in making films. For the unversed, Saif was supposed to make his Bollywood debut with Rahul Rawail’s romantic drama Bekhudi alongside debutante Kajol. But he got replaced despite finishing the first shooting schedule of the film. The 52-year-old actor then debuted with Yash Chopra’s film Parampara in 1993.

Saif is now gearing up for the release of his next project Adipurush where he plays the role of Ravan. Directed by Om Raut, the mythological drama also stars Prabhas Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh as and Devdatta Nage. It will hit the theatres on 16 June 2023.
